I was blessed with a childhood spent in the coastal Somerset countryside where my grandparents established a Nature Reserve on a limestone peninsula overlooking the Moors, The Mendip Hills, Steepholm and Flatholm Islands and the Bristol Channel.
Almost unconsciously I have been inspired to follow in my Ancestor’s footsteps ~ to preserve and protect the Natural World and to honour all wildlife and their habitat.
My path has been to observe and to paint the diverse and fascinating world of plants, birds and insects. I am inspired and dedicated to capturing the essence, the detail and the fragile delicacy of a petal, a cobweb, a feather or a butterfly’s wing.
I shall endeavor to fulfill my life’s mission and hope that those that view my paintings are blessed with a sense of grace and wonder for the Lady Gaia in all her seasons and elements, and receive a greater appreciation for the beauty and magic of all nature.
‘To build up a composition in watercolour washes from light to dark while leaving areas of white paper to represent the high~lights requires the forward planning of a Chess Player, the concentration of a Zen Master and the dexterity of a Brain Surgeon.’
